12. JIM'S LAMENT

By Sharon Minemoto & Joani Taylor SOCAN

Poor old Jim, just look at him
He’s lost without her now
How will he, ever live again
How will he go on

She’s been, everything to him
He knows, she hasn’t long
As he watches her go, his heart’s in pieces
Searching for the strength to carry on

Such a big man, down on his knees
He’s biting his lip, and apart at his seams
He holds on to her hands, his eyes say it all
How could she leave him
He can’t let her go

He was s’posed to go first, you know
This wasn’t part of the plan
He’s reeling, out of control
And he’ll never smile, again

Such a big man, down on his knees
He’s biting his lip, and apart at his seams
He holds on to her hands, his eyes say it all
How could she leave him
He can’t let her go

Poor old Jim, he sings to her
His song, so desperate and sad
She takes one last breathe, and slips away
The tears sting his eyes
Heart broken he cries, and says
Please don’t go
Please don’t
Please stay
